Sarmatlar — Azərbaycanlıların etnogenezində iştirak etmiş atlı köçəri qədim türkdilli^[1]^[2] xalqlarından biridir. Sarmatlar iskit dilində danışırdılar və daha geniş İskif mədəniyyətlərinin bir hissəsi idilər.
